NEW CertifiChecks Gift Certificates - To make buying and being reimbursed for Chamber Bucks gift certificates easier for our members the Chamber has partnered with CertifiChecks. CertifiChecks was founded in 1999 and serves nearly 60,000 accepting locations, including Restaurant Associations, Chambers of Commerce, Bed and Breakfast Associations, and the U.S. military commissaries and exchanges throughout the world.
Huntingdon County Chamber Gift Certificates, similar to mall gift certificates, are accepted at many businesses throughout the region including retail shops, restaurants, and service businesses. All merchant members of the Chamber are pre- approved for the program, but must contact the Chamber office to be listed as accepting the certificates. REACH Employee Assistance Program - Through our partnership with J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, the Chamber is pleased to offer this new service exclusively to our members. REACH provides private counseling service to members' employees (and their families) at a low annual cost per employee. Counseling can include help with the following: stress, marital and family problems, emotional problems, addictive behaviors, drug and alcohol abuse, job-related problems, legal and financial referrals, etc. REACH offers a 24-hour assistance hotline. REACH also provides, at no additional cost, annual and quarterly training workshops for managers, supervisors and employees. And if there is a crisis in the workplace, REACH counselors are there on-site to assist the company in dealing with the resultant stress.

Membership Directory & Business Guide - Underwritten by the ads placed by members, the 2005-2006 directory includes a categorical listing of our members, as well as important information about the area we serve. This directory is used as "the referral book" by the office in responding to requests for information. Members always get preference for inquiries. It has been mailed out in response to requests for relocation information and provided whenever requested by area non-profit organizations.

Workshops & Seminars - The Chamber has partnered with the Juniata College Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and the Huntingdon County CareerLink to offer a variety of low cost and FREE educational seminars. Many of the free semairs are sponsored by the Southern Alleghenies Workforce Investment Board
SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) - The Central Pennsylvania Chapter of SCORE approached the Chamber in the fall of 1998 and asked us to partner with them in bringing their services and counseling to the Huntingdon area. We were happy to oblige. SCORE is a nationally recognized volunteer organization that offers one-on-one counseling in starting a business or making changes in an established business. They offer seminars ranging from the "Nuts and Bolts of Starting a Business", for those who are just thinking about it, to workshops dealing with specific types of business. Their counseling is private and utilizes local retired executives who are matched with their clients by business type. Although SCORE assistance is available to the whole community, not just Chamber members, we feel that our association with this organization is a valuable member benefit. After Hours - The monthly After Hours events are a great way to mix and meet with others in the Huntingdon area business community for an enjoyable time of networking and refreshments at the host members site . Hosts for the events have the opportunity to showcase products and services. Drawings for Member Gift Certificates redeemable at the member business of the winners choice and a quarterly newsletter profile prize, not to mention the great food, make for a relaxing early evening function. Often, our hosts are shared members with HCB&I. Whenever this occurs, both organizations' members and their guests are invited - making the occasion even more enjoyable and beneficial to all who attend.
Quarterly Coffee Connections - The Chamber hosts meetings for all members and guests. The breakfast features keynote speakers on issues important to business and the community and gives us the opportunity to introduce new members, and for members to announce special events and give updates on their business..

Newsletter - The Chamber's first big effort when it organized was to initiate a quarterly newsletter for its members and community officials. Underwritten by the ads placed in each edition, the newsletter keeps everyone up-to-date on Chamber happenings and other news that might be of interest. The newsletter is also included as an insert in The Daily News.
"www.huntingdonchamber.com" - The Chamber's web site, has already yielded many requests for information on the area, including requests for business opportunities and sites. The site offers links to member businesses that are on the web. In addition to area demographics and information, the site will link to other area organizations whose sites offer more detailed information in specific areas (e.g., HCB&I for specific industrial and commercial site information and HCVB for visitor information). Our membership in the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry (the state chamber) provides us with a link on their site.

Name Recognition - Being part of a Chamber of Commerce brings with it strong name recognition, and that doesn't include the referrals forwarded to other area organizations! Chamber membership conveys to customers a feeling of strong commitment to excellence and business ethics.

Committees- Chamber's standing committees offer members the opportunity to become active in areas that interest them. In addition to the Administration & Finance, Membership, Community Improvement/Main Street, Education, Technology, Government Affairs, Huntingdon Area Promotions & Activities , and Business Development committees, short-term, event specific committees are formed as needed.
